Friday Fun - Cocoloso and a likkle islanda vibes of Malibu Rum!!!

I'm on a chill mood this weekend so not really to get anything crazy sophisticated or super strong. Just a good vibe is all I'm looking forward to, ya know? Here we have Ciroc Coconut and Malibu Rum. Ciroc for the strength..Malibu for the lightheartedness. Oh yes, both can be chased with Pineapple Juice...yessir. Honestly, a good Red Headed Slut ( ) would have fit the bill just throw things a bit left field and get a bit crazy.

Haha, I might even have to break out the Cocoloso Dance! Look below:

Align the right cocktail glass with your wedding centerpieces

Nothing says classy more than great wedding centerpieces aligned with the perfect cocktail or wine glass. It's a picture perfect setting. Beautifully folded black and white napkins can create an incredible vibe that transcends the time. Picture a wedding centerpiece right on the table with beautifully lit candle and matching colors setting off the decorum of the whole evening. Everyone in the table is draped in a beautiful outfit that goes right with theme. Capture this moment in time with a nice cold glass of wine or vodka right on top of your napkin while you look at a decorative wedding centerpiece.

Before Cocktail hour, set off the party with some wedding favor boxes

Are you looking to get into some a bit of fun before the festivities really kick of? What better than wedding favor boxes. For your special bridesmaid or groomsmen, you can really show them love right before cocktail hour starts with a special wedding favor. It's a nice little treat after the hard work of helping to get the wedding together or setting up the bachelor/bachelorette party. Maybe you can put a cool wine stopper inside for their wine bottles. Or you can get creative with a card and a funny message to enhance the memories down the line from this wondrous occasion.

Get some wedding favor bags to really give your care to gifts

Don't know what to use to show your love to guests? Wedding favor bags are excellent because you can perfectly stash some great favors without having to buy a box. You can get any size and you can place it right under the chairs, the tables or even have them as a centerpiece for any table. You can put messages, containers, cards, and more into these bags. If anything, people can reuse these bags to stash gifts for a holiday treat for relatives depending on the design of the bag. Whether it's simple or extravagant, your family and friends will appreciate this little treat.

Take in the ambiance together with a great unity ceremony

A wedding is much more than a gathering but a union between two sacred people. That's why is very important to hold a unity ceremony to allow more intimacy between you and your spouse. Something as simple as a candle burning before you say your vows is something a little unique yet traditional in the sense of creating a mood and getting everyone's attention. It's much more romantic and engaging and your guests will feel an inner connection with you and your spouse. Not only that, it will help build the close relationship. Enjoy your movement into holy matrimony for life.

Give a great gift to your guest in the form of wedding favor boxes

Wedding favor boxes are excellent gestures to show your guests why they are important. Remember, you asked them to take time out of their schedule to enjoy your special day! Show them some love and appreciation. It doesn't have to cost a lot, just be creative. Whether you have a really elaborate box with only a simple message inside or a nice wine stopper, you can really put a smile on someone's face with a simple token of love. This is something they will remember for years and will always cherish and hold to their hearts. Make it a special day for your guests, too.

Fancy Free Cocktail - The Cocktail Spirit with Robert Hess - Small Screen

This is a pretty good use of bourbon in my opinion. Not as stern as a Manhattan, but just right with the ingredients, imho.

Recipe
2 oz bourbon
1/2 oz Maraschino Liqueur
dash Angostura Aromatic Bitters
dash Angostura Orange Bitters

Scofflaw Cocktail - The Cocktail Spirit with Robert Hess - Small Screen

This is why I really appreciate this channel. Often times, I see different cocktails but never know the history. I have to say this is some pretty cool stuff. On the YouTube page, the small screen network describes this drink:

"The word "Scofflaw" has come to mean "A person who flouts the law, especially an unsustainable one." But such was not always the case. It was in 1923, when Delcevare King, a member of the Anti-Saloon League, posed a contest to create a new word in order to combat the continued drinking which was going on during American Prohibition. The new word was to be one "which best expresses the idea of a lawless drinker, menace, scoffer, bad citizen, or whatnot, with the biting power of 'scab' or 'slacker.'" The $200 prize elicited a huge response. On January 16th, 1924, the Boston Herald announced the winning word as "scofflaw", with the winnings shared by the two Boston area residents, Henry Irving Dale and Kate L. Butler, who both submitted it. This was not the end of the story however, in just a little over a week, a salvo was launched from Harry's New York Bar in Paris, where they created a new drink and christened it the "Scofflaw"

Get down to the sounds of your special day with wedding decorations

Ready to get the wedding together and have no ideas about wedding decorations? Well, take a look at the party around you and decide what type of designs will work for me, my husband and the kind we are setting? After you've found that out, you can easily center your wedding around one thing rather than having a bunch of stops and tire yourself out. Weddingstar can even help you plan your theme to make things a lot easier for you and your spouse. Choose your own custom design to help create some uniqueness or be a bit familiar with other themes that are classics.

Enjoy your cocktails with some fancy wedding decorations

Before you begin getting your night together with some great cocktails, you need the right wedding decorations to set it all off. Go for your classy white and black theme and really build upon that. You can have the type of theme that rivals a sort of James Bond mystique that will enhance your cocktail such as the ever so popular Vesper Martini. Weddingstar has a great variety of decorations to really help you build the wedding theme you want. If it's not broke, don't fix it. If something is a bit weird, change it and make it your own with the wedding decorations.

The Get Down (Baltimore, MD) review

One of my most favorite places to go is The Get Down, period! I'll tell you why in a bit. Let's get into a little review shall we?

Bar

Really cool environment and the bartenders are mad cool and attentive. They know the right way to pour, and they give you a little bang for your buck. Depending on the night you go, prices of drinks vary. However, for a person like me that keeps it simple with a vodka + mixer or a rum + mixer, I've never had to spend more than $6 for a cocktail. Usually, they have a halfway decent rail vodka or rum. On Sundays, they have no cover charge and the drinks are half priced. You can go with Skyy Vodka or a Don Q Rum with a mix for $3.50. These def aren't low end vodkas or rums, so thats a VERY reasonable price. One of my fav shots is a concoction made by one of the bartenders..it's a bit pricy but after one of them, you'll definitely feel like you got your money's worth! It's called the Rusty Trombone which has Patron, Grand Marnier, and Cinnamon Schnapps, I believe. The weirdest combo but it will get you where you need to be! LOL.

Food

I've never had food at The Get Down to be absolutely honest. I cannot comment on this section. however, there is Subway near by, a Sticky Rice literally across the Street and up. Then there's the pizza spot around the corner which is chill. One day, I will have to try it.

Music

ALWAYS on point! I've never had a time where I really didn't like the music. The one thing that makes this place shine more than others is the general care for the dance floor. The DJs will really take you from soulful house, R&B, 90s Hip-Hop, club music, and more! Everyday is pretty much cool to go to The Get Down.

Thursdays
Pretty much a rave event. If you are into dubstep and that kinda vibe, you'll love Thursdays with DJ Linkmindz. Definitely some different stuff to expand that nightlife.

Fridays and Saturdays
Also good nights. Especially if you want to mingle with some cute females that know how to get down on the dance floor. Definitely a good look. Fridays you'll normally get a cool guest DJ that rips it apart. Saturdays, you'll get DJ Harry Hotter..one of the dopest DJs from D.C. He really knows how to move a crowd from D.C. Gogo to Baltimore Club. Definitely a great vibe on Saturday and it's ALWAYS packed.

Sunday
This is a really great vibe that can get packed as well. DJ Dirty Ralph and DJ Mic_L definitely hold it down for Sunday. DJ Blak Majik also holds it down as well from time to time. I wasn't able to attend yesterday's Sunday Session with Blak Majik but I hope so in the near future. It's been a while!

Overall, The Get Down is home for me! I cannot give it anything less than A just based on the great atmosphere, great music, great looking females, the dancing, and the quality of drinks.

Btw, please check out M Effin Party!

Looney's Pub (College Park, MD) review

Hey, everyone! Just trying to something a bit different and put up some good bar/lounge/club reviews. I actually went there 3 times this week. My friend was back for Thanksgiving and we just wanted to get into some trouble with some of our friends. Let me get into the review really quick.

Bar
Very cool bar. Clean, great service, and great prices. If you are smart definitely come to their happy hour which lasts from 2-7pm on Monday-Friday. You can get rails and imports for 2 dollars. It's a great way to build a buzz and have a good time. Happy Hour prices for the food are also pretty good. I tried the Jerk Chicken which was a bit okay. However, I'm Caribbean so of course - I'm going to be a bit biased. HAHAHAHAAHA. Drinks not on the rail list were cool, too. I think the Ciroc (top shelf) roughly about an 7-8 bucks which is great considering most places it's 10 and up for a drink like that.

I got a Caribou Lou. The bartender didn't know exactly what it was at the moment but he knew where to look it up but I told him. The thing with that drink, you can easily screw it up by overpowering it with too much Bacardi 151 or make it too weak with more Malibu Rum. He made it well and the drink was reasonably priced at like 5 bones, so I tipped 40% of what the drink actually cost.

Music

The music can vary on a given night. I went there on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I was not really feeling the music on Tuesday and Wednesday. Not going to lie. Well, that's partially due to the fact that there were a lot of sports on that night and there were tables set up so there wasn't much of a dance floor. It was all good. It was pretty much on the vibe of better luck next time. It's a great spot for catching your favorite games and having a drink.

Friday was good! The dance floor was open, but there wasn't anyone dancing on it at first. However, when people started to warm up and saw of our group and other people getting into it, then the dance floor started to get a little packed. If you are into dubstep and moohbahton, you'll definitely love it here. But they do play a bit of reggaeton and some of your favorite top 40 (Rap/R&B/Pop) joints. There were some cute girls there, too. That was definitely a plus.

Overall, a good college pub with some great upscale stuff. I give this spot a B+.

Thanksgiving Cocktail: Spiked Maple Chai Royale Latte!

Hey, everyone! Hope you've had a great day of food, football, and drinks! I know I definitely did! Anyway, today was a bit special. I actually used Crown Royal in a latte! My sister had a Keurig Special Brewing system with a chai latte cafe escapes pack. It was really good. I decided to drop my 50 ml mini of Crown Royal Maple. It was nice, smooth, had a bit of the oak, vanilla flavor of regular Crown Royal but with the kick of the Maple flavor. All around it was a really great drink. I would not necessarily use the Crown Royal maple as a cocktail drink. More or less, I'd use it to complement something such as a latte, dessert, or breakfast. As you can see from the pic above, I definitely got it in! LOL.

New Amsterdam Peach - Review/Taste Test via ProMixTV

The crazy thing about this video is I just talked to my homeboy and he said he really liked New Amsterdam Peach. I've had the gin which was str8 for making a Long Island Mix I made a while ago. I tried the Vodka because it was cheap but it was actually pretty smooth ESPECIALLY for the price point. This makes me really curious about the Peach. Ciroc Peach is pretty dayum dope, but it is not my favorite one. I'm Cocoloso all the way. However, if this Amsterdam Peach is pretty good..I might have to buy it over Ciroc Peach. Sorry, Diddy! I'll still support your OG and your Ciroc Coconut, though! Peep the review video below:

Thirsty Thursdays - NEW Crown Royal Maple review!!!

Yup, yup! It's been getting a lot of hype lately, so I decided to buy a couple minis to try on my own.

Scent - a beautiful and rich maple syrup scent. It automatically makes you think of having fresh buttermilk pancakes in the morning. I definitely have to say this is some really good stuff!

Notes - after smelling the aroma of this fine product. I poured a bit into a rock glass and did some intensive sipping. At first sip, you can feel the presence of Crown but immediately after you taste maple brown sugar, you can taste almonds, and other nut flavors as you would with breakfast. There is a slight burn and there is the oak flavored whiskey presence in the crown royal. It's definitely sweet onto its own. You do not need a mixer.

Would I sip this in a cocktail? Probably not. Would I use it to make a frappucino or latte, yes? Would I put it in a dessert? HELL YES!

This is one of those types of liquors I see putting into something that has a different purpose other than an alcoholic beverage.

All in all - I have to give this an 8 based on the taste and the fact I would use this in actual cooking. Kudos!

Thirsty Thursdays - Bacardi 151 review

Hey, everyone. I decided to try to do weekly little taste tests just to see how certain things flow! I may start getting videos together if I can get a camera, perhaps? Oh well! For now, written review and a YouTube video should suffice! Here we go:

Bacardi 151. Automatically, you'll see on the front FLAMMABLE! now, by industry standards..THIS SHOULD NOT BE SIPPED NEAT! Do you think I sipped this neat? HELL TO THE NO! LOL.

The 151 overproof is sooo powerful that it pretty much goes through any kind of liquor or juice. The presence is potent! The only thing that can stand up to the power of 151 is Everclear 190%. You ARE crazy chugging EVERCLEAR! DO NOT EVER DO THAT! Anyway! LOL.

Down to the review

This is the type of liquor you do not really want to drink by itself. It's not meant for that. In fact, you could possibly cook food with 151. Not even playing a bit on that tip.

However! If you have a drink that's sweet or has some very delicate elements such as a Caribou Lou. This is perfect! You know why? The ingredients other than the Caribou Lou really lightens everything up such as the Pineapple and Malibu or makes it APPEAR that way.

All in all...for taste, a 5 (it's practically rum flavored gasoline..LOL). For the presence in a bad ass mix, a definite 10!

Peep Shoenice doing a full 6 second chug of 200ML of Bacardi 151

However, the flower girl is important to really set the tone for the walk down the isle between bride and groom. Start by getting yourself some nice flower girl baskets to accentuate the wedding. Weddingstar helps you decide on different ways to decorate your baskets with bows, ribbons, and other materials. This little part of the wedding definitely adds a lot to the demure. It's a special setting right before the ceremony takes place and you should make it as special as possible.

The Flaming Mouth Shot

I've seen some fire tricks but not too many involving a shot of alcohol like this. This guy is literally Yoga Fire. LOL. On a different note, I guess Sambuca is a really good ingredient to use along with cinnamon. Hmm, peep the short but hot recipe:

Friday Sippin - Malibu Black Bay Breeze

As you can see, I am eating dinner right now, but I have a nice cocktail to accompany it. Today's cocktail includes both the regular Malibu Rum and Malibu Black + Cranberry + Pineapple Juice. We have a souped up Malibu Bay Breeze.

The regular Malibu Bay Breeze is 1.5 oz Malibu Rum (21% ALC) and Cranberry and Pineapple. Naw, that's a bit weak and girly. I need something MUCH stronger! LOL.

These are the portions of my Malibu Black Bay Breeze

1 1/2 oz Malibu Black
1 oz Malibu Rum (Regular Coconut)
Splash of Cranberry Juice
Splash of Pineapple Juice

If you want to see how a regular Malibu Bay Breeze is made, check it out below:

Ciroc Flavors and what to mix with to make cocktails!

Hey, everyone! I know I have a few Ciroc posts already up on the blog, but I have never done a post where I actually break down the flavors in my opinion and what you should chase it with to really bring out the flavors. Check this out.

OG Ciroc aka Blue Dot Ciroc

This is the stable brand that set it all off. Diddy associated with this French grapes based Vodka brand way back in 2007 and for the last few years it's begun to really dominate the competition looking at Grey Goose to get the top spot. At any rate, here is my personal take on the OG Ciroc.

Sipping on ice. A good 1 oz to 1.5 oz pour and you get the scent of grapes as well as a lemon peel. You also get that with the finish as well when it comes time to sip. Really clean and well polished vodka. It does have a little burn but all vodkas at 35-40% ALC do.

Mixers: with any plain vodkas, pretty much any juice will do. However, this is a special vodka with some interesting notes so lemonade and grape juice definitely takes the cake. Diddy recommends these in particular Welch's Grape Juice and Simply Lemonade. With lemonade it's called "The Diddy" and with both grape juice and lemonade it's called the "OG Diddy". Honestly, with any vodka, this is a great mix that has the sweet and nice grape vibe and the sweet and sour vibe. It's an excellent combination.

Ciroc Red Berry

This is the next flavor in the catalog with an emphasis on a raspberry/wildberry kind of flavor.

Sipping on ice: for me when I first tried it, I honestly did not really like it because it tasted a bit bitter. I don't know how my palate is now because I'm used to drinking scotch and whiskey on ice, but that's my take on it so far.

Mixers: To be absolutely honest, Cranberry Juice is perfect finely because it breaks out the bitter notes of the Redberry. Also, if you really want a treat - Simply Raspberry Lemonade! PERFECT mixer!

Ciroc Coconut

Man, this is definitely my favorite out of the bunch. I love coconut anything and rum is definitely a great vibe.

Sipping on ice: PERFECTION. Great coconut flavor, great smooth vodka, a slight burn. That is all you actually need.

Mixers: only one is truly needed. PINEAPPLE JUICE! That's it! Nothing more! It goes perfectly! The best flavored Ciroc imho. The cocktail is called the Cocoloso made popular by Fabolous. Also, if you want..you can have Coke with it. Like a Rum and Coke. Tastes pretty great, too. It's called the Nino Brown.

Ciroc Peach

Definitely a great trump card out of all the Ciroc flavors. The seemingly sweet peach flavor will sneak up on you, too!

Sipping on ice: pretty solid. It's sweet which makes it great for females, but it still has the vodka presence which makes it suitable for guys to drink as well.

Mixers: Now, there are a bunch of mixers you can do with this to make a really great cocktail. With Orange Juice, you can have fuzzy navels. Cranberry juice tastes really good with Peach. Also, I've heard that the Ocean Spray White Cranberry Peach Juice is the ultimate mixer but I need to definitely try that for myself.

Here are a few videos that will show you how to get your mixing on!

Drinking Game for Election Day 2012 - President Barack Obama vs Mitt Romney

I voted this morning, and all I have to say is Go Vote! Remember, a lot of people fought for you to even have the chance to vote or create a system where you can choose who you want! Watch the election 2nite and get your drink on! This post is taken from
Thought Catalog

Here are the rules taken straight from the site, but I will truncate it a bit.

"Take a sip of your drink every time someone puts a last-minute political rant on their Facebook status.

Take two sips every time someone makes an anti-rant Facebook status along the lines of “Everyone just go to the voting booth and make your choice. Let’s not fight about it,” which ends up becoming a rant in and of itself.

Chug a beer and then crush the can violently against your head every time you see a defaced political yard sign.

Do a shot every time a news network’s election coverage special brings on a talking head who is absolutely unqualified to be making comments about the political process, but is going to bring in viewers

Take two sips every time a conservative Facebook friend nonchalantly mentions something about being being pro-life.

Do a Jager bomb every time your candidate wins a state in the electoral college.
Do a double shot of your own tears every time your candidate loses a state.

Chug a beer every time someone changes their profile picture to just a promotional poster for their candidate.

Do a shot of Jameson and then stab yourself with a broadsword every time someone casually mentions the fact that President Obama is black in a way that totally betrays how racist they are.

Finish your drink every time someone says they “can’t deal with it” and are going to see a movie instead of watching the election coverage at home.

Start a new drink every time you secretly want to join them.

Do a shot with a same-sex partner every time someone on Facebook drops the absurd bomb that they don’t support gay marriage.

Chug a beer every time someone mentions how they don’t want to vote for the opposing candidate not for any policy reason, but because he “seems like an asshole.”
Drink every time someone Facebook status updates that they voted.

Chug four beers back-to-back every time a white guy with dreads talks about how useless voting is.
Do an extra shot if said be-dreaded white guy says something along the lines of “we are just voting for our slavemasters.”

Chug a gin and tonic every time someone posts a long rant about why they are voting for Gary Johnson, and why you should, too.

Do a double shot every time a major news network calls the election early (and erroneously).

Shotgun a beer every time a non-American posts a giant, condescending rant about the American political process, as though their country doesn’t have its own embarrassments every now and again, come election time.

Do a flaming shot of maple syrup every time someone threatens to move to Canada if their candidate loses.

Take three sips every time you highly consider de-friending an IRL friend just to no longer have to listen to their constant, ill-informed political monologues.

Happy drink everyone!

Tipsy News: Booze for the Hurricane & Annoying Cocktail Trends via Tipsy Bartender

This is a really cool post that delves in a number of things that I don't like and do like. I love the fact that they get into how some cocktails have WAY too much stuff in it and more or less not drinkable. I also love the fact that they point out at the way certain people make fun of others simply on the fact of the cocktail they drink. So what if I don't like beer. So what if sometimes I want a drink that tastes really good instead of just drinking straight rum or straight vodka. Drink whatever you like!

Also, it's cool of them to shoutout those affected my Hurricane Sandy. I wasn't affected too much by it but I made sure I had some liquor on standby! Peep it!

How to smuggle alcohol on a cruise ship via TipsyBartender

I've seen a few videos that talk about smuggle alcohol on cruise ships, but this my friends is a tad bit different. It's in fact a pretty cool way to mae things look legit and keep things fresh you know?

What Sky basically does is take a huge bottle of Vodka pour in an empty Listerine bottle but takes the seal off in a special way so that it maintains the freshness when you put it back on. He puts two different food colorings inside so that it looks like Listerine but does not affect the taste.

Pretty ingenious, right? Well, peep the video below:

Malibu Black Rum Review

Aight, everyone. I was trying to find the Captain Morgan Parrot Bay 90 proof at the local liquor store (couldn't find it), but I ended up coppin' the Malibu Black. The regular Malibu Rum is more of a girly drink at only 42 proof, but this one is more of a regular rum at 70 proof.

Taste/character notes
- caramel intro; more of the what you expect from a regular dark rum
- has a darker rum look (not necessarily black but a nice dark brown hue)
- a smooth go down and slight burn. Great for sipping neat or on ice.
- coconut after taste is apparent and a bit more natural coconut than the regular Malibu Rum. Almost feels like a dark rum completely.

Overall, this was a very pleasant experience. It was pretty good tasting. Has a better buzz and lasting finish than the typical Malibu Coconut Rum. A slight burn and a pleasant mix of a caramel/coconut feel to it. The rum definitely has more body, too.

Overall score: 7.8/10. Solid! Depending on your liquor store you'll probably pay out around 12-15 bucks for the 750mL.

Here's a video review that Derrick Schommer from Common Man Cocktails came up with earlier in the year. Enjoy!

Stout Coffee Cocktail via The Beer Chicks

Here's another cool beer concoction by the The Beer Chicks. Definitely take a look at this cool creation which has an up and down kind of feel. If you ever had a bomb (usually with a spirit and an energy drink), you'll kind of get this feeling. Be wise, though. Please do not drink these very often especially if you have some serious heart problems because it could be VERY traumatic for you. Someone already passed away from doing this, and you can check it out on a post I did last weekend called "Tipsy News" from the Tipsy Bartender. Here's the recipe for this cocktail below:

1 oz Port (Dessert Wine)
Russian Imperial Stout
Espresso
