My crazy Friday night outing in D.C.

Ended up going out to D.C. It was quite ridiculous...the weather was especially humid that night. A storm now called "Derecho" hit. It was apparently a really powerful tropical storm that caused massive winds, knocked down trees, and knocked out the power. However, when I got home, the power was still on. But I did see a tree or two knocked down when I got up this morning. LOL.

Last night at the club:

So, I get a hurricane and tip the female mixologist. What I did not expect was how crazy the rest of the night would turn out. We go upstairs to a little duck off. Everything was chill..I say it was around 10:30-11 and the music was just right. One of the ppl were giving us free drinks. I was really killing the music, really vibing and everything. These cats from Austria were ballin that night and had a 1.75L of Grey Goose on a bucket of ice. They said come over here and take a double shot with us...it was quite insane to say the least. That double shot ended up being nearly half a dayum bottle between my friends and I. We kept getting free drinks. Maks me so by the end of the night I was completely at my wits...I kept dancing..kept drinking water...I was killing the circle that night as it magically appeared on the main floor..ended up dancing with a few cute latinas. Great, great night. It all started with this hurricane cocktail:

I've never seen a recipe quite like this. It's pretty dayum interesting to say the least. peep it! I guess it's almost like an alcoholic orange sherbert

1/2 oz. Orange Vodka

Alcohol and Weight Loss via TipsyBartender

Now, this is a very touchy subject. If you are serious drinker and you gotta drink everyday, try to keep ish to a minimum. I know I like to keep a buzz when I'm drinking especially when I'm out but I try to limit myself to 2 drinks or so. Binge drinking is not even in the equation.

I say some of the best ways to really lose weight is just have a clean diet. Eat a lot of fruit, eat a lot of vegetables, lean meat, and eat frequently. Working out is also very important to build muscle from the proteins you take in and the ways you utilize those proteins. If you are looking for good ways to build muscle and lose weight, check out my Get in Shape blog.

Also, another gem is Green Tea. This is REALLY helpful. Not only does Green Tea help with increasing your metabolism, it's very good for you. It's a great healer, it settles your stomach as well as helps prevent some cancers. Take full advantage. Trust me, have your Green Tea with Cinnamon everyday (like 2 cups), and you'll start building your metabolism up really well!

Now, here's a skinny cosmo recipe for all the people trying to lose weight, but the best way is to not drink at all or keep it to a very, very good minimum and have a healthier diet! Enjoy! For more skinny recipes, check out this blog post and you'll find a good link to make your own skinny cocktails!

How to make a Giant Long island ice tea plus variants

Now, I'm really shocked I haven't made a post on this yet..there are countless other long island cousins out there, but this is a classic. This is my go to drink if I'm at a bar or a spot to eat an evening dinner or so. But this first one I want to show you is the Tipsy Bartender version which is excellent for a party!

Recipe:
Vodka
Rum
Gin
Tequila
Triple Sec

Splash of Coke

Check out the basic, but great recipe of a regular Long Island Ice Tea:

Splash of Coke

The taste and the look is deceiving!! So make sure you slip slow. One or two of these will definitely get you where you need to be!

Also, note..some recipes use sugar, some don't use tequila or gin. It's really 3 different liquors rolled into one, but this is one of the most potent recipes.

Learn different Horchata Recipes

Seeing as everyone loved the first How to Make Rumchata recipe, I'm going to post different Horchata recipes from both Mexico and El Salvador. A good pre-made Horchata mix is this one that people have actually been buying.

I think the only thing different I will say is to you use Dark Rum. Bacardi really does nothing for it to be honest. I would pick a Rum like Appleton because the flavors match more of the Horchata feeling.

7 Headed Dragon Shot via Tipsy Bartender

If you've ever seen the Zombie, the Four Horsemen, or even The Hunger Games Shot called the Haymitch, you know this already has TREMENDOUS POWER!!! I've had some pretty potent shots - I've still yet to tell you completely about the Rusty Trombone, but that will come at another time. Maybe I'll have one on Thursday at the Get Down for M Effin Thursdays in Baltimore, MD! Take a look at this deadly ass shot:

Recipe:
1 part Jim Beam
1 part Jack Daniels
1 part Wild Turkey 101
1 part Rumple Minze

1 part Jagermeister
1 part Bacardi 151

A Day with Bombay on Mother's Day

So my mother has a serious, serious fascination with Bombay. I forgot to post this up but I decided to try it the day before Mother's Day. I couldn't believe how crazy that tasted. I don't see how cats like Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J can drink this, but check out the Gin Face and a few of their random videos below.

Stout Float via TipsyBartender

It looks like a pretty interesting and alcoholic root beer float. LOL. Gotta love booze and ice cream together! Not too much or you'll get bloated. LOL. Anyway, Mallorie looks sooo fine even with braids. It looks really good on her for some reason.

Recipe:
Vanilla Ice Cream
Top with Stout Beer

Check out this review of Capella Flavor Shots via Common Man cocktails

If you remember the last post regarding flavor drops, you'll see the Tipsy Bartender making a nice Peanut Butter based cocktail. He uses some Capella flavors, but does not go into any major details. I think Everyday Drinkres aka Common Man cocktails has a better description for the taste, comparing flavorings with the liquor, and all of that.

Check out a full length review of some Capella flavors. I'm sure they will start building cocktails with those flavors soon.

Cocoa Puffs Shot via TipsyBartender

This actually looks pretty dayum tasty to be honest. Got your coconut rum and baileys. I bet it has a very interesting flavor. The only thing I would say is as soon as you pour the shot, you HAVE to drink it because that Bailey's will curdle and that's not a good feeling. LOL.

Here's the recipe:
1part Irish Cream
1part Coconut Rum
1part Cola

How to make the CocoRum Punch

So, on Sunday..it was Father's Day. Next door, there is a Guyanese family. It's tradition on holidays to make a Rum Punch. If you don't know what a Rum Punch is...think of a less crazy juice and soda infested drink with Rum. Usually with a rum punch, a lot of natural ingredients are used like Tamarind, Lime Juice, Lemon Juice, Simply Syrup, Rum, Pineapple Juice, etc. This one is a bit different...why? Well, I'll tell you.

First of all, I had Guyanese Rum, which is one of the best rums in the world *just sayin*. Then the Tamarind and the other juices (which I don't know because it's their family recipe). It was kinda strong as it should be....I had lemonade frozen over for a while..so I decided to put that over top of it. I also had a small bottle of Ciroc so I put that over top of it...Today, I put in 200 ML of Ciroc and topped it off with a little Ginger Ale to give it that nice kick, you know? It tastes great and it's definitely an appealing color for the ladies. As you can see from the photo above, it looks pretty serious. LOL.

At any rate, what kind of Rum Punches or Jungle Juice mixes, do you like? Here's one of my favorite videos from Chesterfield Browne! He makes two special rum punches using Mount Gay (Bajan) Rum.

Check out Go Central Jersey for excellent taste in food and cocktails

One of the great things about traveling is the fact that you not only get to see the serenity but you can try some really good foods and drinks that are a bit more specific or common to the area. At Great Cocktail Recipes, we love trying some good thing, so check out a few cool restaurants you might want to go to for food and cocktails!

Central Jersey is a hot bed for restaurants and nightlife. If you have more of a mexican feel and love your tacos, fajitas and the like - you should go to El Dorado Tex Mex Grill & Cantina. It's an excellent place with great food, vibrant music, and excellent cocktails. You should try out the Sangria Brunch special. They also have a bunch of different margaritas on deck for you to choose from with pomegranate, coconut, and even chocolate.

Another great place to go to on your night out in the town is Freddy's Sports Bar and Grill. This is the perfect time to go because it's summer and those nice, misty kind of nights definitely give the bar a whole other vibe. There are big, flat screen tvs so you can enjoy your game amongst friends, family and other people while you drink your beer on tap. You can go out on the Patio drink a nice Shock Top to have the perfect nightcap before your next day.

These are just a few places to check out if you really love restaurants and nightlife. For more information, check out Go Central Jersey!

Voli Lyte Vodka Review via Common Man Cocktails

Now, this is a vodka I've been thinking about trying. I can already tell from his review it's very watered down, which I don't really care for and seeing as I'm not one to really count calories from drinks...it's of no real concern to me. I'm not a heavy drinker nor even a moderate drinker, so I feel those are the kind of people that need it the most.

Pitbull is a celebrity that's endorsed by Voli and he's been in a bunch of commercials. You'll see that a lot of celebrities are drinking this (besides, Ciroc) and really are getting into cutting calories. Check the review below and some of the Voli commercials as well as some recipes.

Are you a wine or beer connoisseur? Check out Epikur Magazine!

Whether you are from the DMV (D.C./MD/VA), Philadelphia, or even taking a trip from another country to Philly, you should give Epikur Magazine a check. The magazine was created by the Wine School of Philadelphia, and they have some really nice reviews on some beers and wine you may not have tasted.

The have some really nice reviews on different beers like Fantôme Saison from Soy (a town in Belgium). They add a lot of flair to the review describing the taste, the tone, the aroma, and how your palate may feel during and after your experience. They also state the rarity and availability of the beer so that you aren't in the dark on how to go about purchasing your beverage.

Additionally, they have some great wine reviews that will expand your palate for different wines besides the typical, sweet Moscato that's become more mainstream. They have a top 10 summer list of wine ranging from Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Sauvignon Blanc. It's a worthwhile look for the vinos out there!

Besides, the wine and beer reviews, it's a very clean and simple magazine. It's very well put together and will open your mind and your palate to some new tastes on the market.

This is a classic, and also great for Father's Day, too. Make sure you check out some more James Bond cocktails on my other posts!

Father's Day Drinks - The Godfather

We're switching it up today and going for a little bit more of a classic. What says classic than a good scotch based drink, right? I'll take regular scotch any day over a Jagermeister, I'll tell you that! LOL. That's besides the point...

This is as classy as classy gets. You take your favorite scotch mix it in with Amaretto and then top it off with REAL Maraschino cherries giving it a very unique flavor and syrup added to the drink as well as a nice garnish that really makes your cocktail look like a don!

Dessert Cocktails: The Perfect Way to Finish off your evening

^You see that chocolate martini up there, ladies? Wouldn't that be the perfect nightcap or dessert to end your evening dinner?

For the adults, you might not want a slice of cake, a slice of pie to finish off your evening dinner. Maybe you want to try something with a bit of kick. There are a lot of good recipes out there that include chocolate syrup, whip cream, different flavored bitters, and flavored vodkas/rums/tequilas to really help add a bit to your sweet tooth. I'm going to post a few cool videos below to help you get on board with some great dessert recipes:

Chocolate Martini
1 1/2 oz Vanilla Vodka
1/2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1/4 oz Creme de Cacao
Milk
Chocolate Syrup

Add more ice to the drink because you DONT want the ice to melt cause the flavor to dilute and the potency to go down. Try to keep the drink as chill as you can when you shake it.

How To Make The Cafe Jager via Common Man Cocktails

It's interesting because I just had a shooter with Patron in it on Thursday. My friend was telling me about a shot a friend made up using Rumplemintz, Grand Marnier, and Patron. He called it a Rusty Trombone (there is already a cocktail out there). And the origins are of a sexual nature (look it up..LOLOL). It was kind of expensive for a shot ($7.50), but boy did it get me good for the night. Man, oh man. That is what you call a shot! LOL. That strange combination was powerful yet really smooth. The aftertaste made you feel like you were washing your mouth out with fresh listerine, or you had a few altoids. It was quite crazy.

This is not nearly as powerful as what I had, but it is interesting. Combining the herbal medicine flavor of Jagermeister with the Agave and Coffee flavor of the Patron Cafe. Check it out:

Spiked Energy Drink Slushies via Tipsy Bartender

I swear Tipsy Bartender and I get on the same page, sometimes. Just last night I made a Slushy of my own with Three Olives, Ciroc, and Lemonade! It might not look like much, but I tell you, IT WAS GOOD! LOL!

As you can see, Skyy John makes a few different recipes using this energy drink called Slap. It's suiting because these mixes will LITERALLY slap you in the face! LOL. Now, I've made another type of slushie before using Ciroc which you can see on my Hubpages.

This is pretty cool and I love the fact that they used the Tequila made popular by Entourage. If you haven't seen Entourage, YOU NEED TO ASAP!! In fact, I'll post a link to the Tequila they are talking about and links to where you can purchase some Entourage DVDs! Enjoy!

How To Make the Japanese Meadows via Common Man Cocktails

This is a pretty interesting cocktail using a combo of Malibu Red and Midori. I can already tell what this cocktail does to the palate without even tasting it. A bit of sour and some major sweetness. Why? Well, let's break down the recipe:

1 1/2 oz. Midori
1 oz. Passion Fruit
1 oz. Malibu Red
Top with Lemonade

I honestly wouldn't put this in my top 10 of drinks because that flavor combo is just way too wicked for me to be honest. I love the name, though. It reminds me of Sakura from Street Fighter Alpha 2. Check out how Derrick Schommer from Everyday Drinkers made it

Creating a Carrot Cake Shot via Tipsy Bartener

Ok, I think I've watched this 4 times now just because of something a bit on the distracting side. LOLOL. On the serious tip, I love Carrot Cake, man. It's some good stuff! Shoot, I would even rock a Carrot Cake Rocks Shirt! LOL. Seriously. On another tip, I think this has the potential to be very tasty and a bit on the strong side because of the Goldschläger. Here is the recipe:

1 part Goldschlager
1 part Baileys
1 part Kahlua
1 part Butterscotch Schnapps
1 part Blackberry Liqueur

This might look a crazy fruity shot, but I'll tell you one thing - It's a bit strong..Goldschlager is roughly at 94 proof. Enjoy!

The Legend of Zelda Cocktail via TipsyBartender (E3 2012)

It's funny how Skyy posts this cocktail right during E3 2012. I was actually looking at his Facebook the other day, and I said to myself, "Yup, perfect timing!" This actually a really cool looking cocktail. You definitely get a Zelda vibe because of the energy drink and the blue curacao as a full bomb shot much like Link's bombs in Zelda. Here's the recipe:

1 part Blue Curacao
1 part Blue Berry Vodka
1/2 Pint Energy Drink

Shoutout to Mitch From The Drunken Moogle for coming up with this recipe. If you haven't been on that site, please do check it out! I have a few recipes posted on here from that site. Just go to Tag or Archives and Type "Drunken Moogle" or something.

Try Blowfish as a Hangover cure via Tipsy Bartender

I rarely get hungover, but this shoulda been one took during Tigerfest! LOLOL. It's a product that uses a combo of Aspirin, caffeine, and Antacid. Apparently, the name comes from the way the tablet dissolves or blows into the water. Pretty interesting, right? The person that created it Brenna Haysom, is a Harvard graduate. Check out this interesting clip of Emma from Tipsy Bartender getting in a crazy night of drinking then resorting to this tablet! Peep it! Yo, Skyy, ur girl is a G, man!

Here is some more information about this "magical tablet":

"Two tablets contain the maximum dose of Aspirin and 120 mg of caffeine. The caffeine dosage is less than that in a Starbucks Grande brewed coffee that packs in 320 mg of caffeine.

Unlike other hangover products Blowfish does not contain vitamin supplements as they are absorbed too slowly to have an immediate restorative effect. It is claimed the cure works in just 15 to 30 minutes as the combination of ingredients makes them more effective than taking them separately. The pills are manufactured by Rally Labs LLC in New York.

The tablets are fast-acting when taken the morning after the night before. According to The Star Haysom said “There’s nothing in the product that’s so revolutionary or new, but what’s great about it is that it combines a couple of things in a way that is specifically tailored for hangovers.” "

How To Make The Stormfront Cocktail

This is a pretty thorough but pretty cool made cocktail. It brings in a lot of different elements for taste and color. Check out the recipe:

2 1/2 oz. Malibu Red
3 oz. Cranberry Juice
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
1/4 oz. Vanilla Schnapps
1/2 oz. Dark Rum

This should be called Party Punch to be honest! LOL. I've always made my storm cocktail without the use Tequila, Schnapps or Curacao. However, it's a very tasty cocktail called the Tropical Storm. Check out specific directions on how I made the Tropical Storm Cocktail on my Hubpages!

How to Make the Buffalo Sweat #3 via Common Man Cocktails

One thing that you can never deny is the power of Bacardi 151, but adding some Jack Daniels (a burn your tongue whiskey) and two drops of Tabasco? WOW!!! That's called numbing your tongue. SERIOUSLY! Check out the recipe:

1/2 oz. Bacardi 151
1/2 oz. Jack Daniels
2 Drops of Tabasco

I've never taken a shot of 151, but I've taken a half shot of Everclear (NEVER EVER DO THAT!!) and yes....I felt the power. This combo is not one to screw around with..I'll tell you that. Check the video:

Since he mentioned "Hot in Herre", I'ma post the video. It's summer time and it fits!

Making a Peanut Butter infused vodka via Tipsy Bartender

Now, this is interesting. i've heard of flavorings before but never to make your own infused drink. If this is the case, I will definitely order one or two in the next week or so.

Here's Sky's recipe:

1 1/2 shot Vodka
10 drops Peanut Butter Capella Flavor Drops
1 shot Kahlua
1 shot Baileys

The site where the flavors come from is called Capella Flavors. Apparently, with each flavor you get, it's enough for 600 drops. Additionally, you can get even larger bottles if you want. Either way, it's a great deal if you just want a plain vodka and want to add on later without running and buying a whole other bottle of vodka.

Making a Caribou Lou (Memorial Day)

Sup, everyone? Well, for Memorial Day last week..I decided to make a Caribou Lou. It is a slept on but potent drink. Very great for the summer! This is the type of cocktail you need a good cup for because you want the parts to be great. How I made mine was this:

1 Oz Bacardi 151
2 Oz Malibu Rum
2 Oz of Pineapple Juice

Don't let the look of the drink fool you. It is VERY POWERFUL!!! LOL. Here are the actual ingredients used below:

You can out some video presentations of how people made a Caribou Lou on my other post!

Shoutout to the MC called Tech N9NE for creating the drink. You can check out his song below:

Vodka Infusions Pt. 2 (Ciroc)

Ok, everyone. Last night I was getting ready to go out but the weather was really horrible. Hopefully, we end up going out tonight. This is on deck for 2nite or some time next week if something should happen. I ended up making a very small vodka infusion. Just enough to get the right buzz. It's one of the small Ciroc bottles (200 ML). If you know your measurements, that's enough for 6.0 OZ. Which is realistically 4 shots worth..however, I did drink some of it, and I had Coconut Ciroc and put some Simply Lemonade and other things. However, it is still strong (3 shots worth inside). Check it out:

As you can see up there, I've already put the mix of Blue Dot and Coconut Ciroc + Simply Lemonade together, but did not fill it up to the top yet. You can also see the red grapes and the cherries that I used (all natural fruit).

It didn't work out as well as I'd hope, but I did use a mallet to kind of crush the raw fruit and make a little juice out of the cherry and grape to give the drink some more flavor as well as put some of the small peels into the mix.

I pretty much have the finished product chillin in the fridge right now getting nice and cold, so I will post that up sometime today or something..it depends. It's a strong but really cool mix. Perfect for the summer. I have no idea what I'm going to call it yet, but it's going to be smooth. I'll tell you that!
